Registration is done with your provincial HR association.

Normally, the NKE and NPPA are held the first Saturday in May and October of each year. Exceptions will be made when these dates coincide with a major holiday or holiday weekend. Exam dates are posted one year in advance of the day the exam is held.

Please check with your provincial HR association for the location, times and more information regarding upcoming exams.

    Exam Fees

The cost of writing the NKE is $250* + applicable taxes.
The cost of writing the NPPA is $500* + applicable taxes.

Please note: To ensure that the NKE and NPPA continue to reflect current and future best practices in human resources, ongoing investments are required to validate and update these assessment processes.

    * Fees are subject to change without notice at the discretion of the CCHRA.

    Exam Refunds and Deferrals

Once the registration deadline has passed, exam fees are non-refundable. If you discover you cannot write for any reason, please contact your provincial human resources association for information on how to defer your exam to the next sitting. A maximum of two deferrals per exam are possible.

Up to 30 days before the exam date, you may defer to the next sitting at no cost. Between 30 days to 7 days prior to the exam, you may defer to the next sitting but will be charged a deferral fee of $100 + GST, except in cases of illness or bereavement (official verification required). Within 7 calendar days of the exam date, deferrals are not allowed unless there is verified proof of extenuating circumstances such as serious illness or loss of immediate family.

Please contact your provincial human resources association as soon as possible should such a situation arise.

Registrants who defer to a future sitting and then cancel their registration any time prior to this sitting will forfeit their initial exam fee plus any deferral fee paid.
