Shawnee Love has a passion for people, business and communication. This led to a focus on human resources as part of her commerce studies at the University of British Columbia.

Early in her career Shawnee attained her Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) designation. After 18 years working in various private sector human resources roles, she took her next step and incorporated her own company, Love HR. Based in Kelowna, British Columbia, Love HR is a human resources consulting firm and placement agency. It was about this time that Shawnee recognized the full value of the CHRP designation. With her own company, keeping current about HR trends and best-practices became increasingly important for Shawnee. “I found that a Bachelor in Commerce degree was not sufficient.  I looked at pursuing an MBA but I gravitated towards the CHRP designation instead.  The designation increases my credibility as a certified HR professional and increases my knowledge about the industry.”

Now that she is a more experienced HR professional with her own company, she recognizes the value of the professional designation for herself, other employers and professionals who come to Love HR services.

Shawnee praises the CHRP designation program: “The study tools and exams are just excellent.” She urges other HR professionals to obtain their CHRP designation. “The new CHRP system has changed my perspective about the designation. The program has helped me to view HR through a whole new set of eyes.”
